Bonded Down, Not Drilled In

Almost every gutter guard fitting method sold in Australia involves driving screws through the roof sheet. At Leaf Free Gutter Guard, ours doesn't. Our mesh bonds to the roof with 3M VHB adhesive tape, the same product manufacturers use to hold structural panels together.

The practical upshot is that a watertight roof stays watertight. There are no new penetrations to seal, no fixings to back out over time, and the hold is spread along the whole length of the run rather than concentrated at intervals. Preparation products are covered on our primers, sealants and tools page.

What a Sound Fix Needs

Adhesive fitting is simple to do and easy to do badly. Four things separate the two.

A clean, dry surface with residue & oxidation removed

Primer where the existing coating is chalky or weathered

Even pressure applied with a roller along the full run

Correct trims & saddles at edges, valleys & terminations

Who Does the Fitting

Homeowners confident working at height often fit Leaf Free themselves, following our installation guide. The steps are straightforward when they happen in the right order.

Anyone who'd rather not be on a ladder can use a certified installer, trained on our product and working to the preparation standard the warranty assumes. We manufacture the mesh; the fitting is theirs.

Frequently Asked Questions

3M VHB tape is engineered for permanent structural bonding and is used in manufacturing worldwide for exactly this reason. On a properly cleaned and prepared surface it holds along the full length of the run rather than at isolated points.
